the glaciers
 

A breathtaking landscape of impressive glaciers descending from the continental ice field is the Natural Monument of World Heritage protected by Los Glaciares National Park.
Thirteen glaciers on the Atlantic side break into huge towers which plunge into the waters of lakes Viedma and Argentino. Glaciers Perito Moreno, Mayo, Spegazzini, and Upsala’s fronts fall into the latter, at a short distance from glaciers Agassiz, Onelli, Ameghino, and Frías.  Tertiary granite elevations covered with thick Andean forests frame this monumental natural show.  The Perito Moreno Glacier can be admired right from mainland, navigating or hiking in the glacier itself.

 

Within 4 hs from Calafate, and still within the National Park, El Chaltén, at the foot of Mt. Fitz Roy, is considered the national capital of hikers and attracts nature lovers from all around the globe.For adventure travelers prepared to work a bit harder, drive north along the Andes on a multi day expedition through mythical Route 40, staying at true Patagonian Estancias which will reward you with once in a lifetime remote landscapes such as Lake San Martin and hidden jewels as small Perito Moreno National Park.
